Jio IPO Price Band, Lot Size and Investment Limits
The Jio IPO price band is ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, with a lot size of 12 shares. Most retail investors bid at the “cut-off” price, which means they agree to pay whatever final price is fixed within the band (the upper end, ₹1,119, is used to block funds).
| Investor category | Lots | Shares | Amount at ₹1,119 |
| Retail – minimum | 1 | 12 | ₹13,428 |
| Retail – maximum | 14 | 168 | ₹1,87,992 |
| Small HNI (sNII) – minimum | 15 | 180 | ₹2,01,420 |
| Big HNI (bNII) – minimum | 75 | 900 | ₹10,07,100 |
How the Issue Is Divided
- Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs): up to 50% of the net issue, of which a large part has already gone to anchor investors.
- Non-Institutional Investors (HNIs): at least 15% of the net issue.
- Retail Individual Investors: at least 35% of the net issue.
- Reliance shareholders’ quota: up to ₹2,500 crore reserved separately.
- Employee quota: up to ₹500 crore, with eligible employees getting a discount of ₹54 per share on the final offer price.
RIL Jio IPO Shareholder Quota: Who Is Eligible?
One of the most talked-about features of the RIL Jio IPO is the reserved category for Reliance Industries shareholders. Individual investors and HUFs who held at least one RIL share as on 14 October 2026 can apply under the “RIL Shareholder” category, with a maximum application of ₹2 lakh in that category.
Two things to keep in mind. First, buying Reliance shares now will not make you eligible, because the cut-off date has passed. Second, being eligible does not guarantee allotment; it only gives you a separate, usually less crowded, pool to apply in. Eligible investors can generally bid in both the shareholder and retail categories, but confirm the exact rules in the RHP and your broker app before you bid.
About Jio Platforms: What Business Are You Buying?
Jio Platforms was set up in 2019 as Reliance’s holding company for its digital businesses. Its main subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), runs India’s largest mobile network, along with home broadband (JioFiber and AirFiber), enterprise connectivity, cloud services, and a growing set of AI-powered apps.
- Customers: about 53.3 crore (533.3 million) as of June 2026, including roughly 28.5 crore 5G users.
- Ownership: Reliance Industries holds about 66.4%. The rest is held by global investors who came in during 2020.
- Concentration: RJIL contributed nearly 88% of revenue and about 94% of profit in FY26, so this IPO is, at its core, a telecom business.
Google and Meta Investment in Jio
In 2020, Jio Platforms raised about ₹1.52 lakh crore by selling roughly 33% to marquee investors including Meta (then Facebook, 9.99%), Google, KKR, Silver Lake, Vista, General Atlantic, Mubadala, ADIA, TPG and Saudi Arabia’s PIF. Importantly, none of these investors is selling a single share in this IPO. The entire ₹30,213 crore is fresh money coming into the company.
Where Will the Money Go?
Most of the IPO proceeds will be used to prepay or repay borrowings of RJIL, with the balance going to general corporate purposes. Lower debt means lower interest costs, which can support future profits.
Jio Platforms Financials (FY24 to Q1 FY27)
Reading a company’s financial statements is the first thing we teach in our Fundamental Analysis Course. Here are Jio’s restated consolidated numbers from the RHP:
| ₹ crore | FY24 | FY25 | FY26 | Q1 FY27 (Apr–Jun 2026) |
| Revenue from operations | 1,09,558 | 1,28,218 | 1,46,885 | 39,173 |
| EBITDA | – | 64,170 | 76,255 | 20,865 |
| Profit after tax | 21,423 | 26,109 | 30,049 | 7,764 |
| ARPU (₹ per user per month) | 181.7 | – | 214.0 | 215.6 |
In FY26, revenue grew about 14.6%, EBITDA about 18.8% and profit about 15.1%. The EBITDA margin improved from roughly 50% to 51.9%. In short: steady, double-digit growth on a very large base, not explosive growth.
Jio IPO Valuation: Expensive or Fair?
At the upper price band, the Jio IPO valuation works out to roughly ₹10.3 lakh crore, or about 34 times FY26 earnings. The obvious comparison is Bharti Airtel, Jio’s closest listed rival, which trades at around 37–38 times FY26 earnings.
| Metric (FY26) | Jio Platforms | Bharti Airtel |
| Revenue | ₹1,46,885 cr | ₹2,10,973 cr |
| Mobile ARPU (latest quarter) | ₹215.6 | ≈ ₹264 |
| Return on capital employed | 10.76% | ≈ 19% |
| P/E at IPO / current | ≈ 34x | ≈ 37.5x |
So Jio is priced at a small discount to Airtel, but it also earns less per user and a lower return on the capital it has invested. Whether that discount is “cheap” depends on whether you believe Jio can close the ARPU gap through tariff hikes, 5G and home broadband. This is exactly the kind of peer comparison our Research Analysis certification course teaches you to build on your own.
Jio IPO News: Anchor Book and Day 1 Response
The latest Jio IPO news shows very strong institutional appetite. On 19 October, Jio Platforms raised ₹8,109.85 crore from 212 anchor investors at ₹1,119 per share. Bids in the anchor book reportedly crossed ₹2.5 lakh crore, over 30 times the amount on offer. Domestic mutual funds took about a third of the anchor allocation, alongside global names such as BlackRock and GIC.
On opening day, the QIB portion was fully booked within minutes, and the overall issue was subscribed more than once by around 10:45 am.
Jio IPO GMP: Read It With Caution
Ahead of the opening, the Jio IPO grey market premium (GMP) was reported in the range of about ₹215–245 per share, hinting at a possible listing gain of around 20–22%. But remember: the grey market is unofficial and unregulated, GMP changes every few hours, and it has often been wrong on listing day. Treat it as a sentiment indicator, never as a reason to invest. Our investor awareness page explains why disciplined investing beats chasing tips.
Strengths and Risks of the Reliance Jio IPO
Strengths
- Unmatched scale: India’s largest subscriber base and data traffic of over 241 billion GB in FY26, far ahead of any rival.
- Profitable and growing: ₹30,049 crore profit in FY26 with margins above 50% at the EBITDA level.
- Debt reduction: 100% fresh issue, with proceeds largely used to cut borrowings.
- Strong backers: Reliance, Meta, Google and leading global funds are all staying invested.
- Growth levers: 5G monetisation, home broadband, enterprise and AI services.
Key Risks
- Single-business dependence: almost all earnings come from RJIL’s telecom operations.
- Lower ARPU than Airtel: profit growth depends heavily on future tariff hikes.
- Capital-heavy business: large spending on spectrum and networks keeps return ratios modest.
- Regulatory risk: licences, spectrum pricing and TRAI rules can change the economics quickly.
- Customer churn: about 1.67% of customers left each month in FY26, as per the RHP.
- Size of the issue: a very large IPO with heavy institutional allocation may limit listing-day pops compared to smaller issues.

Jio IPO Listing Date: What Traders Should Know
Jio Platforms is expected to list on 28 October 2026. On listing day, IPO shares go through a special pre-open session where the opening price is discovered, after which normal trading begins. Price swings in the first hour can be sharp, especially in a stock with this much attention.
If you plan to trade the listing rather than hold for the long term, have a plan before the bell: an entry level, a stop-loss and a target. Reading opening-range price action is a core part of our Technical Analysis Course and the Intraday & Swing Trading course.
What Can Stock Market Learners Take From the Jio IPO?
Whether or not you apply, the Jio IPO is a live case study worth following.
