Trading Mentorship Program in Mumbai: Are 8–12 Weeks Worth It?
You have watched hundreds of hours of trading videos. You know what a VWAP is, you can draw support and resistance, and you have a strategy saved in your notes. Yet your account keeps shrinking, and you cannot say exactly why.
That gap between knowing and doing is what a trading mentorship program is meant to close. At Upside, the Mentorship Program is the longest format of our Intraday & Swing Trading Course, running 8–12 weeks in a classroom at Dadar or Thane.
This post looks at who genuinely benefits from that much guided practice, who does not need it, and how to decide before you spend money.
Why Knowledge Alone Rarely Fixes Trading
Most struggling traders do not lack information. They lack feedback on their own decisions, made in real time, under pressure.
A video cannot tell you that you moved your stop-loss three times last week. It cannot point out that every loss came after a winning streak, or that you trade more when you are bored. A mentor watching your trade log can.
This is also why our article on trading psychology argues that the right strategy is only half the job. Execution and discipline are the other half.
What a Trading Mentorship Program Builds On
The Mentorship Program draws on the same eight-module syllabus as the other formats, with more weeks for practice and review:
- Foundations of how markets, orders and sessions work
- Candlesticks and price action, read on live charts
- Indicators: moving averages, VWAP, RSI, MACD and volume
- Intraday strategies: pre-market analysis, gap-up and gap-down handling, Opening Range Breakout, VWAP reversal
- Swing strategies: stock selection, breakout and pullback swings, exits
- Risk management: risk per trade, position sizing, daily loss limits
- Psychology: fear and greed, FOMO, handling losing streaks
- Live market practice: watchlists, paper trading and trade reviews
You also receive a daily trading plan, scanning checklists, a trading journal template and a risk calculator. Ask the team during counselling how the 8–12 weeks are paced for your batch.
Learning Alone vs Guided Mentorship
| Factor | Learning alone | Guided mentorship |
|---|---|---|
| Feedback on your trades | None, or comments from strangers | A mentor reviews your decisions in class |
| Practice before real money | Easy to skip | Paper trading is built into the course |
| Risk rules | Often added after a big loss | Taught first: no stop-loss, no trade |
| Losing streaks | Faced alone | Discussed in the psychology module |
| Cost | Free content, but mistakes cost money | Course fee; ask the team for the current fee |
The last row deserves honesty. Free material is genuinely free, and our comparison of free vs paid trading education says so. The question is whether unguided trial and error ends up costing more.
Who a Trading Mentorship Program Suits
The longer format makes most sense if one of these describes you:
- You have traded and lost money and want someone to find the pattern in your mistakes.
- You struggle to follow your own rules, especially stop-losses and daily loss limits.
- You are a working professional who needs a weekday, weekend or evening batch and wants structure rather than self-study.
- You plan to trade seriously and would rather spend three months practising than three months losing capital.
A simple test helps here. Pull up your last ten trades and ask whether each one had a written entry, stop-loss and target before you clicked buy. If fewer than half did, the problem is process, and process is exactly what longer guided practice is designed to fix.
Keeping a record makes that review possible. Our guide on how to maintain a trading journal shows what to log after each trade.

Who Probably Does Not Need It
Mentorship is not the right choice for everyone, and saying so saves you money.
If you only want to understand how the market works, the 7-day Crash Course or the 30-day Beginner Program is enough. If your interest is long-term investing rather than trading, the Fundamental Analysis Course fits better at ₹16,000 one-time or ₹18,000 in instalments.
And if you mainly want options, the Options & Futures course covers 24+ strategies, Greeks and hedging over 1.5 months, with lifetime post-course support.
What Mentorship Cannot Promise
No honest trading mentorship program can promise a fixed daily income, and Upside does not. Markets carry real risk, and even well-trained traders have losing months.
SEBI’s FY26 study found that 87.7% of individual F&O traders lost money, with net losses of ₹91,685 crore. Under-30s made up 43% of individual F&O traders, and about 89% of them lost money.
Mentorship cannot remove that risk. What it can do is help you size positions sensibly, respect stop-losses and review your trades honestly. If you are unsure how much to start with, read how much capital you need to start trading.
